Sooner or later every growing business hits the same question: who should handle our design, video and website? There are three common answers, and each one can be right.

When a freelancer is the right call

A good freelancer is ideal for one clear job. If you need a logo, a set of brochures or a single landing page, one specialist can deliver it quickly and without much overhead.

The trade-off appears when your needs spread out. A designer may not edit video, an editor may not build websites, and you become the person who keeps them all in step.

When to hire in-house

Hiring makes sense when you have steady, daily creative work and someone to lead it. An in-house designer learns your business deeply.

But one hire rarely covers every craft, and salaries, software and management all add up. It works best once the workload is proven.

When an agency fits

An agency suits work that crosses crafts: a new brand, a relaunch or a product launch. You trade one brief for a joined-up result, and the team can grow or shrink with the project.

  • You need several crafts on the same project
  • You want one person accountable
  • Your workload goes up and down

Three questions to decide

  1. Is this one job, or a stream of connected jobs?
  2. Who will manage the work day to day?
  3. What happens if the workload doubles or halves?

If you are still unsure, start small. One well-scoped project will tell you more about a partner than any pitch can.
